Baguio City Flood Early Warning System in the Pipeline
Mayor Benjie Magalong and the representatives from DOST-PAGASA and DOST-CAR signed two Memoranda of Agreement to establish a cooperation and mutual partnership framework to support the Flood Early Warning System project.
The project includes installation of water level sensors on key river locations. Coupled with real-time weather data collection, all these information would be processed and made available to the team, which will be the basis for efficient policy-making and enhanced disaster response.
The ASEAN Australia Smart Cities Mutual Fund (AASCTF) project is supported by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, managed by Asian Development Bank (ADB), and implemented by Ramboll.
Ms. Thuy Trang Dang of ADB, Mr. Alvaro Fonseca of Ramboll, Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, Ecology, and Environmental Protection Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Mayor’s Chief of Staff Engr. Felipe Puzon, Jr., and Ms. Antonette Anaban of City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were present to witness the monumental MOA signing.
