PBBM’s Pambansang Pabahay to Benefit 10K Families

Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar forged a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding signing on January 5 at the DHSUD Central Office.

The agreement aims to house around 10,000 families in a 6.3-hectare township development project. According to plans, ten 20-storey buildings will be constructed in Barangay Tupinao, Tuba, Benguet. The housing project would target informal settlers, including those whose houses are located on sinkholes and creeks as well as within watersheds and landslide-prone areas.

“This signing ceremony signals the start of our collaboration — our bond to help Baguio City residents realize their dream of owning decent, safe and affordable shelters,” Secretary Acuzar told.

The housing project is said to be among the finest under President Bongbong Marcos’ Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, which is spearheaded by DHSUD.

A screening process would be in place to determine those who qualify, according to the Mayor. He also added that beneficiaries should also have the capacity to pay minimal monthly amortization as the residential units and its facilities need to be maintained.

“Well, ginagawa na natin yung plano. Pini-prepare natin yung groundbreaking. Hopefully, towards or at the end of this month, andun na yung groundbreaking natin and it would be a big event. Ginagawa na rin natin yung miniature model niya para makita ng tao,” Mayor Benjie said in a recent interview.
