Monumental Pact for Clean Air Inked

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for environmental protection and maintenance of air quality was signed earlier today at the Gevers Hall, Saint Louis University (SLU) Campus.

The MOA was entered by Baguio LGU represented by Mayor Benjie Magalong, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista, University of Baguio President Engr. Javier Herminio Bautista, University of the Cordilleras President Dr. Nancy M. Flores, and SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert Sales represented by Executive Assistant to the SLU President Mr. Joselito Gutierrez. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was represented by Deputy Resident Representative Mr. Edwine Carrie.

The Agreement aims to facilitate research and development of low-carbon mode of transportation, which could help mitigate the environmental impacts of greenhouse gas. The said MOA also encourages the three major academic institutions in the city to take active participation by conducting studies relative to development of low carbon transportation and propose data-based solutions for lowering emissions.

A wall of Pledge of Commitment was also signed by concerned agencies and institutions.

The UNDP, City of Baguio, and DOTr have been working hand-in-hand to implement the Clean Air Act and support programs related to improving air quality.
