First “Super Health Center” in Cordillera Opened Its Doors

The newly-constructed Aurora Hill Health Center formally opened its doors following a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 25. Mayor Benjie Magalong led the ceremony along with Mrs. Soledad Go representing Cong. Mark Go; Department of Health-CHD Cordillera RLED Chief Virginia Narciso; Health and Sanitation, Ecology, and Environmental Protetion Committee Chairperson Councilor Lulu Tabanda; City Health Officer Rowena Galpo; and Aurora Hill Health Center Medical Officer Dr. Marie Therese Sumbillo.

Dubbed as a Super Health Center, the new Aurora Hill Health Center is the biggest and most modern health center in Cordillera. Aside from providing primary health care services, it features its birthing clinic, x-ray facility, diagnostic laboratory, and isolation facility for public health emergencies.

Mayor Benjie expressed gratitude to everyone, most especially taxpayers, who made the construction of the health center possible. The mayor is also coordinating with various offices as well as the private sector to obtain funding to acquire top-of-the-line equipment and furniture.

The Universal Health Care (UHC) Law mandates that health centers, being primary care providers, to provide health care services guided by the Standards of Primary Care. The UHC guarantees that all Filipinos must have equitable access to quality and affordable health services.

The health center will cater to 13 proximal barangays and is expected to go beyond, as necessary.
