Digital Payment System, Baguio in My Pocket Launched

The phone application Baguio in My Pocket with digital payment system (BIMP) was lauched earlier today at the City Hall Grounds. The launching was graced by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, BSP officials, DILG-CAR Regional Director Araceli San Jose, DILG City Director Millicent B. Cariño, Mayor Benjie Magalong, Baguio City officials, Pasig City Councilor Simon Romulo-Tantoco, ITBS officials, and finance institution representatives.

In his welcome speech, Mayor Benjie expressed gratitude to those who made this endeavor possible. “The e-governance online payment system will ultimately deliver efficient government services to our people. This system will drive public trust in government.”

“We have entered into the age of innovation as we need to adapt to the fast-paced world of digital transformation. We must always remain vigilant and proactive on how we can become a globally-competitive city,” said the mayor.

Baguio in My Pocket is a multi-purpose digital phone application that is a key component of Baguio Smart City system. Aside from being a platform for online payment, it has several important features like Baguio 911, telemedicine, and e-governance portal. Being a utility app, BIMP is capable of serving functions such as transport booking and digital shopping. Development of such functionalities are ongoing and will be rolled out as app updates once available.

“Baguio City’s strong digital transformation strategy makes it an even stronger champion for digital finance. It is a testament that the city’s commitment to modern governance and inclusive local development,” Romulo-Puyat stated.

Praising Baguio City’s efforts to achieve ease of doing business for its citizens, she added, “The BIMP application responds to the need for a more convenient way to pay business and property taxes. Through BIMP, taxpayers can finish paying their dues in under one hour by using the app.”
